Chateau Chantal Tapas Tour

My wife and I will be heading up to Traverse City the first part of July to do some wine tasting and to visit the vineyards. We also just made reservations at Chateau Chantal for their Tapas Tour on July 3rd.  It includes an in-depth tour of the winery along with tapas and wine tasting. I am very excited as I think it will be educational and a blast for a couple of wine geeks!

This is a copy of the email they sent us, which describes the event much better than I ever could:

Thank you for making a Tapas Tours reservation!  Tapas is a centuries old, Spanish tradition of serving small, savory dishes with wine.  The tradition began when these small plates were placed on ‘top’ of the wine glasses as a lid.  Taverns filled these tiny plates with morsels such as olives, cheeses or smoked meats.

Today, Chateau Chantal has taken up this tradition with our very own Tapas Tour.  We have prepared a delicious collection of tapas and paired them with our own Chantal wines.  We look forward to sharing them with you.  Your tickets include  a tour of the winery that winds through the vineyard and cellar as the winemaking process is explained from vine to bottle, and concludes with our tapas-style exploration of wine and food pairing.  We aim to satisfy your appetite for wine knowledge as well as for tapas!  Please bring an eager palate, an inquisitive mind, and a light jacket to wear as we venture through the cool cellar.
